A recurring problem

so, moments ago I just uploaded a new photo, and it is alright, just thought it looked interesting so id thought to share it. but as i looked at my gallery section of my profile, i still notice that i am just putting up random shots that peak my interest. I still have yet to find something to stick to. which is kind of frustrating because my adult life has just started ( I graduated high school a few days ago YAYY!!). I know I still have time, but i am just tired of misc photos being posted. idk just a nagging observation i had.

on a brighter note, i just purchased a Canon 40D and LOVE IT!!! much more pro than my rebel, I hope to make great use of it in the coming months. now my next mission (besides getting a job) is to find a suitable lens to go along with it. Any suggestions? I currently use a sigma 18-200 3.5-6.3 and a canon 50mm f1.8. ive been looking at the Canon 28-105mm 3.5-5.6.

As always, thanks for reading my rantings.

Congrats on the new camera, you'll definitely feel and see the difference between this one and the Rebel!

I wouldn't recommend the Canon 28-105mm, I tell you from experience, it doesn't last very long before it breaks, while the optic is pretty decent mine broke after a year of use, and on a very expensive piece at that, so it's much better to consider other choices, there're good options around the $450-$550 price range on Sigma.

I recently bought the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 for my 40D and while it has a bit of distortion on the sides it's a great option for wide-angle photo.

And don't worry so much about trying to stick to a certain type of subject or photo, rather take time to explore a wide varitey of themes and subjects, the more pics you take the sooner you'll discover the type of picture you prefer to do.

wow thanks for the feedback, and on the subject of what i wanted to do, well i was hoping to start a small (very small) business like photographing peoples parties for them or what ever for a small fee, just to sort of get my name out there/earn some bucks. so that is why i was really keene on getting a lens for a specific type of photo. but thank you though, i will definitely check out what sigma has to offer :)

Parties are a potentially good business niche, especially if you're starting. Actually a pro photographer in my country suggested it to me. I'm a on a project with a couple of friends to start a small company that focus on graduations, weddings, and other social events, hopefully it'll take off. Good luck!
